Luna's New Friends – A Pro at Making Dog Friends
Share
When it comes to making dog friends, Luna apparently is a pro. The staff at her daycare asked us if we wanted them to start introducing her to other dogs. We said that we would love that for her. Not including her best dog friend, Rocco, Luna has been introduced to several other dogs now. She's only been uninterested in maybe one of them; he just wasn't her speed.

Along with making dog friends, we've been told that she is also becoming more comfortable with and less nervous around staff that she doesn't know very well. That gives us hope that one day, maybe she can be less nervous around all strangers. To get to that point is still a long process. However, her daycare offers specialized training that we will be enrolling her in soon.

As owners of a reactive dog, our dream for Luna isn't for her to be super excited to see everyone she meets. We know that is most likely never going to happen. What we would love is just for her to be comfortable enough to walk past someone on a trail or on the opposite side of the street. Yes, she can walk around people she doesn't know at daycare. But when that happens, she isn't around mom and dad. That's where the training will help. For her to be neutral no matter where she is and who she is with. Every small step she takes is a victory, and we celebrate each one. We couldn't be prouder of how far she has already come.

Obviously, we love Luna just the way she is. But we know that with a little training, we can take her to places she's never been. We can turn her weekly rides around town into car rides across state lines. We can turn her daily walks around our neighborhood into walks along forest and mountain trails. We can turn her lay downs in the backyard dirt into lay downs on beach sand.

Now that you're caught up with our past adventures, stay tuned for all our future adventures. See you next week!
